Uncode 1.7 introduces a new workflow for media gallery creation and management. Version 1.7 introduces also the new Album Galleries, which are completely independent media galleries located within another parent gallery. With this feature, it’s possible to open an entire media gallery from just one thumbnail.
Role Manager
If you have not already done it during the installation of the theme, please activate the WPBakery Page Builder → Role Manager for all the "uncode_gallery".
Create a Gallery
First, we'll add the Gallery CPT menu to the WordPress sidebar, screenshot. From this menu, you can create your own image galleries in the same way you would create and manage a blog post or a portfolio item. There are a few things to note here:
- The featured image is the 'cover' for the Album Gallery. However, it is not automatically the first image in the gallery. In case you need the featured image to be the same as the first image in the gallery, please add that image to both sections. This method ensures flexibility for users who prefer to feature a unique image.
- The gallery's images are displayed in the Media selector . It’s possible to rearrange these elements using a simple drag and drop feature, screenshot.
- It’s possible to define a title, a description (main text area), and a caption (Excerpt field), as extra elements to be displayed alongside the gallery thumbnail.
- Categories are used for organization and for filtering menus.
Display a Gallery
To build a gallery, you'll first need to add an Uncode WPBakery Page Builder Media Gallery module to your page. Then navigate to the Media selector, and insert the new gallery elements that were previously created in the Gallery CPT. At this point, the gallery will be connected to the Media Gallery module and is ready to be displayed, screenshot.
Album Galleries
The Album Galleries behave like folders, containing many individual media galleries. By selecting a thumbnail, you can open in Lightbox mode only the elements belonging a particular image gallery. This creates independent albums that are linked to a parent gallery, allowing you to easily create exceptional photographic portfolios.
Explode (Inline Galleries)
With this option enabled, it’s possible to treat galleries as single media elements, screenshot.
When you select the Explode feature, your images will become part of a unique inline gallery. Using this method greatly improves the creation of single galleries. In fact, by inserting only one gallery with the Inline Gallery option, it’s possible to centralize your media management. This is especially useful for all designers who create sites that will be managed by their clients.
Filters
To create a filtered menu, you'll need to assign one or more categories to your galleries and enable the Filter option in the Media Gallery → Module tab. Then, you can go on to define specific design options.
Page Media and Buttons
It’s possible to use galleries in the Page Media section to centralize management, screenshot. For example, you can upgrade a portfolio without having to access the specific page it's located on. Plus, by using the new Gallery options you can open a Media Album with a Button module, screenshot.
Albums Gallery doesn't work
If your Album Gallery doesn't work, for example, when you click on a thumbnail, the page scrolls up, this means that you have a JavaScript error on the page. This can be related to the fact that within the Caption or Title, you have entered HTML characters that are not supported, that you have entered a line-break, or that you have incorrectly checked the Team Member option.
Albums Gallery in search results
Album Galleries cannot be shown in search results. This is because these are media that contain other media, and WordPress does not return media in search results natively. What WordPress displays in its results are Posts (Blogs, Portfolios, Products), which in Uncode are handled through the Posts module. Album Galeries are created through the Media Gallery module.
